Sales Forecasting Software

You insert into the sales forecasting software model your estimate of the intangibles such as the number of potential customers aware of your business, sales coverage, sales closure rate, percent repeat sales, business costs, etc., and the software model projects your major objects such as sales, market share and profit and loss. This is a "what if" model, so you can keep varying your intangibles (keep asking yourself what if I do this) and then look at the resulting objectives. Once you get the objectives to the level that is acceptable, then in your marketing plan you explain how your are going to obtain the numbers you used for the intangibles. If you execute your marketing plan successfully, then you will obtain your objectives.

There are three parts to the sales forecasting software model. One is the help section. The second part consists of the model with numbers or values already inserted. This is called the case history. After you read the help section, you may want to bring up the case history to see how the model will look after you insert your own numbers. You can change any of the estimates to see what affect it has on the objectives. In other words, get a feel of how the model works. All the numbers in blue are your estimates. All numbers in black are formulas. The model has space to insert 3 years or 36 months of activity although you can insert data for just one or two years if you desire. After you are through experimenting with the case history, you can bring up the third part, which is where you insert your own data.
